How to Get Here
The most direct way to reach Casa Werma is to fly into the Morelia Airport (MLM), located about 90 minutes away by car. We can arrange ground transportation between the airport and Casa Werma (or your nearby offsite accommodation) with one of our private drivers for an additional fee of $80 USD each way. If you arrive at a similar time as other participants, we can coordinate a shared ride to reduce costs. To arrange transportation, please email us your flight information, and we will contact you to confirm the details.
Important Note: A valid passport is required for travel in Mexico for all non-Mexicans. Be sure your passport is current, as you will need it to board an international flight.
For more adventurous travelers, there are other ways to explore Mexico and reach Casa Werma. Arriving at Mexico City Airport (MEX) is a popular option, as it often offers the most economical flights. Mexico City also has much to see and do if you have the time and interest to explore.
Traveling from Mexico City to Pátzcuaro
Bus Travel: Several bus lines offer daily service to Morelia or directly to Pátzcuaro. The trip takes approximately five hours and costs the peso equivalent of $35–$40 USD one way.
Bus Stations:
Central de Autobuses Poniente (also known as Observatorio).
Central de Autobuses Norte.
From Mexico City Airport, head to the taxi booth to purchase a price-controlled ticket for a taxi to either bus station. Travel time to Poniente/Observatorio is approximately 1 hour, while travel to Norte takes about 30 minutes, depending on traffic. If you are departing from a hotel, the front desk can assist in arranging a taxi. Alternatively, you can use Uber, which is safe and widely available throughout Mexico City.
Recommended Bus Lines:
You can book your tickets online or purchase them directly at the bus station on the day of travel. However, we recommend purchasing your tickets in advance to ensure availability, as your preferred bus may sell out, and prices are typically slightly higher at the counter. If you'd like, we can purchase your ticket on your behalf and add the cost to your guest statement.
Arrival in Pátzcuaro: Once you arrive at the Pátzcuaro bus station, take a taxi to Casa Werma. Taxis are located just outside the station entrance and cost around $50 pesos for an in-town trip. Most drivers do not speak English, so we recommend showing them our address: Casa Werma Calle Libertad 80 Centro You can write the address on a piece of paper or save it on your phone to show the driver.
If You Arrive in Morelia: If you choose to travel to Morelia by bus, we can arrange for a private driver to pick you up from the Morelia bus station for $850 pesos. The driver will bring you directly to Pátzcuaro.
