Community Events

Casa Werma is proud to be a gathering place in the heart of Pátzcuaro, offering more than just retreats. We are in a remarkable period of growth, supporting a network of over 180 local community members through cultural events, educational programs, and public gatherings. These are just some of the many ways we open our doors to connect, share, and support our community throughout the year.

Community Bonfire

At the beginning of each year, we host a community bonfire where friends and neighbors are invited to reflect, release, and set intentions for the new year. Guests bring written notes or objects that represent what they are ready to let go of, offering them to the fire. Everyone is also encouraged to write down aspirations for the year ahead, planting seeds for personal and collective growth.

Tibetan New Year Fire Puja

Every year, we hold a Tibetan New Year smoke purification ceremony. This traditional fire puja offers an opportunity to clear obstacles, invite blessings, and begin the year with clarity, protection, and renewed energy.

Feria Alter-Nativa

Our Feria Alter-Nativa is a vibrant community farmer’s market that takes place several times throughout the year. It features local organic produce, handmade goods, natural products, and artisanal crafts from talented local producers. It is a lively gathering focused on sustainability, wellness, and supporting our local economy.

Earth Month Education and Outreach

Our commitment to sustainability extends to education. Each April, during Earth Month, we collaborate with local students to create educational posters about environmental issues and solutions. These artworks are displayed on our exterior wall, transforming it into a public education space that sparks dialogue and raises awareness around protecting our planet.

Art Expos

Casa Werma regularly hosts art exhibitions featuring local and regional artists. Our meditation hall transforms into a gallery space where we celebrate creativity and culture. These exhibitions have showcased paintings, ceramics, photography, and mixed media, offering the community an opportunity to engage with art and support local creators.

Community Ofrenda for Día de los Muertos

Each year, our community gathers to co-create a collective ofrenda for Día de los Muertos. Together, we decorate an altar with flowers, candles, photographs, and offerings that honor loved ones who have passed. This beautiful tradition is a time for remembrance, reflection, and connection, open to everyone who wishes to participate.

Community Posada

In December, we gather for our annual Community Posada, a festive holiday potluck celebrating the season with neighbors, friends, and families. It is a joyful evening filled with food, music, laughter, and gratitude for the connections that make our community strong.

We are deeply grateful to Casa Werma for opening its doors to host the Alter-nativa Fair in Pátzcuaro. By providing a space for local producers and conscious consumers to come together in support of health and environmental care, this collaboration strengthens our community, fosters networks of exchange, and promotes a more just and inclusive economy. The partnership between Casa Werma and the Alter-nativa Fair is also a beautiful invitation to enjoy this magical garden in the heart of Pátzcuaro.
